Expert Teachers

Lori Hoelscher is the owner and primary teacher at Act III Dance Center, which she opened in 2010.  Lori taught dance, trained extensively, and performed on a professional level in Los Angeles for 7 years.  She was the owner and main instructor of Rhythm Dance Studio in Cheshire for many years.  Lori has a BS in mathematics and education.  She has trained in dance since the age of 4 and loves teaching dance with all her heart and soul!  Lori is thrilled to be teaching in North Haven and hopes her students find as much joy in dance as she does!

Aliza Cunningham has trained extensively in dance for over 25 years with several dance companies, including the legendary Philadanco (Philadelphia Dance Company) Training Company. Recently, she has taken extensive course work in Dance Education though she already possesses a BS in Psychology and a MA in Counseling Psychology.  She has taught dance and choreographed for 14 years, and she continues to train.

Krissy Christensen is looking forward to her first year teaching the Toddlers and Preschoolers at Act III.  She danced competitively for 10 years in tap, ballet, jazz, modern and performed in many musicals during that time.  She graduated from Boston College with an undergraduate degree in Elementary Education and her Masters in Curriculum and Instruction.  She taught 3rd grade before becoming a stay at home mom and seamstress 7 years ago. She is incredibly excited by this new opportunity to merge 2 of her favorite things; dancing and working with children!

You'll get an incredible dance education!

There are many levels, based on dance ability and age.

Over many years of teaching, Miss Lori has developed a dance curriculum which helps students at each level learn and grow as a dancer every year.  Our goal is to truly reach each student, teaching them proper dance technique, always advancing their dance skills, in a friendly and encouraging class environment.

You'll be treated nicely!

Miss Lori, Miss Aliza, and Miss Krissy are kind and caring while they keep students focused on learning.  They foster a fair and non-competitive atmosphere while encouraging students to strive for excellence in dance.  Their way of teaching promotes self-confidence, respect, and positive attitudes.  They also communicate well with parents, and Act III has very reasonable prices and policies.
